World Championship Waiting

De La Vega : Put your hands between your ears
Oh where on earth did they got the nerve to put De La Vega on rock werchter. De La Vega being a band that tries to combine everything that a normal person could annoy. White girl thinking she's got the charisma of the back ground vocalsist of James Brown. A bass player who gives the wrong side of 23 a brand new meaning. Annoying me, but pleasing 13 years-old fans who in the end also where got bored and where dieing to see Sioen.

Sioen
Already seeing him earlier on this year and being the replacement of the kaisers chiefs, was making me not 's worlds most eager person to see him. But he managed to please those 13 years olds and he didn't make the wait look longer then necessary for the indie kids. He is set was for 100% the same as earlier this year.

Athlete
They were the first good news of the day. Their song sounded so melancholic on their fender tele's. Playing classics like Tourist and meanwhile satisfing the those neurotic indie's that is what people call performing. They may be had an unlucky that day, but they pulled out a decent show.

The Dresden Dolls
Like Sioen I'd also seen them earlier this year, but the big difference with the dresden dolls and sioen is that dresden dolls dare to flirt with everything! Art, the concept of performing. Yes and when you try to be arty people tend to call it arty farty, but their coin-operated boy was done in such a psychedalic way that DNA (obscure post-punk band of the 80's god fathers of Sonic Youth) would have be jealous of. Also their cover of Jacques Brel's Amersterdam was absolutely stunning. The neurotic patients were happy.

New Order

New Order is rising back to the surface due to the whole 80's revival. Starting off with some songs from their latest cd Hooky and co immediately proofed why the bravery still is a rookie in the game of glitch rock. Speaking of the bravery, they and the chemical brothers were very eager to watch this ex-joy division band. Let's face it: classics like temptation and blue Monday are nice but they never reach the immortality of Love will tear us apart or transmission. Still it is an alright band with their fair share of hits, but it isn't just Joy Division.

Kraftwerk
In comparison with New Order was Kraftwerk armed better cards for the simple reason that all of their music that they made don't really belong to a specific date. They are "krauting" it since 1968 and they still sound post-modern today. There is no romance around 4 man with their laptops and a giant screen playing screensavers that most of us thing are old-fashioned. But aces like Computerworld, Autobahn, Aerodynamic and radio-activity were blast into the audience and with their almost-freighting German precision. When experienced it everything those robots/men did seems logical as can be, but when you look back you don't really know what just happend, like it was some kind of religious experience. They showed the audience why they were pioneers. Their influence on dance music as on rock music (read Kid A-Radiohead and the sample that Coldplay used) is the most logical effect of their hard work and precision.
A clear example of Kraftwerk "arty" behaviour when the first encore (Robots)came the men were no longer there

Got lost and did not get to the finish

The Bravery
Sam and the gang, are maybe NME's new hope still didn't touch a single soul. Yet they tried so hard, they're tried to hard to have funny lyrics "You put the art in retarted have every big British music style represented as a haircut in your band(Mods, brit poppers, rockers)Unconditional sounded so cold and if you only have one song and the rest of your songs are just "ricky martins" of that one song then you got a problem.
They dedicated black cat to U2 as thank you for having to open before them in Dublin. The Bravery never got any farther then a Strokes and Killers cover band and not even a good one.
The bravery proved that they put the cliché in the oh-my-god-do-you-really-look-and-sound-that-much-of-a-cliché-rockband!
