the one day the post come back

After various battles against flying dragons, human-flesh eating babies, crazy professors attacking us with principals of our society, Randy Warhol has returned.

First up world shocking news, after having mtv2 (a dream come true?) I got pretty much bored with after day 3. I missed surfing hours on the net to see Arcade Fire their video in a way to small box.

Next up, for the moments the band is doing all righty. For all you new readers, yes there was a time the band-deparment wasn't going too well, but that is history and now we're aiming to conquer to world, CANADA WATCH YOUR BACK!

Let's give you a peek:
favourite song of the moment: Italian song by Matson Jones
favourite album of the moment: Broken Social scene by Broken social scene

Last wensday I went to see Bikini Atoll, but didn't that long. It was their first visit to Belgium, and they were making at Ghent's I-know-that-you-know-me pub de video. Let's blame the PA for the first two songs, but after some minor adjustments it was already and wonderfull. For being post-punk and sticking more to the genre than their fellow countrymen do (see Bloc Party and ...) they create a beautiful soundlandscape. Bikini Atoll was mixing acoustic sounding guitars, with a blip and bzziii (but if you want to know the instrument it was Groch, happy?) none the less I wasn't sounding over the top but the band always balanced between noise and harmonies. Bikini Atoll is comparible with old school sonic youth but without the scratching guitars.

Tom Verlaine, Vooruit, Balzaal
Saturday 15-10-05
Tom Verlaine isn't the most likely person to be household name that you could imagine. May be Marquee Moon, Television or Patti Smith ring a bell?
No?
Well Television was one the first bands to preform at CGBS, even before the Ramones, Tom Verlaine was their front-man. They were very big influences on the strokes Is This It album, even so that the strokes tried to deny it but just listen to Fricition.
The release of Marquee Moon in 1977 was their high-point, but just like with some many NY bands after their debut album the lights went out, and he went solo and guitarist with Patti Smith, though it isn't really clear how deep their relationship went.
Weird enough, this "indie-god" was never a big arena rocker, he even had a hard time to fill this venue with 30 fans, who were waiting for more Television like songs. This show was a part of Jem Cohen's fusebox, who was a mix of culture and activism, and yes those provincial wannabe arty(-farty) Ghenters weren't really into all this "weird" project. (Remember Gem's speech were they didn't even have the manners to shut up). I couldn't blame them for the reason that they wanted to hear good music and perhaps a band who rehearsed the songs Verlaine played. Verlaine gave soundlikes of his 'hits' the opener had a stricking deja feeling. Let's say 1880 or so. But Verlaine is a king in poetry and guitar-poetry (especially in Eminor-C). He took us to a new land of mystical guitarsounds. The last song was an more heavier song, (Juicebox gone RIGHT!!), and the audience even kept on screaming for more, but the golden CGBS rule was applied No Encores. Respect, my nigga!

Later More.

Love Your
Randy Warhol...
